Delicate, modern, and effortlessly elegant – these Smoked Salmon Rice Bites bring together the creamy texture of sushi rice, the smooth richness of smoked salmon, and a whisper of sesame and honey. They’re perfect as a refined appetizer for dinner parties, wine nights, or stylish gatherings where simplicity meets sophistication.

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups sushi rice

½ teaspoon salt

¼ cup rice vinegar

1 tablespoon honey (instead of sugar, for a softer flavor)

1 teaspoon sesame oil (for aroma and shine)

8 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Fresh dill or microgreens, for garnish

Soy sauce or light teriyaki sauce, for serving

Instructions:

Rinse the sushi rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. Cook according to the package directions with a pinch of salt.

While the rice is still warm, mix the rice vinegar, honey, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Gently fold the mixture into the rice to season it evenly. Let it cool to room temperature.

Line a small square dish (about 8×8 inches) with plastic wrap. Press the rice evenly into the bottom using damp fingers to prevent sticking.

Arrange thin slices of smoked salmon over the rice, covering it completely. Lightly press to secure.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds, then chill for 1–2 hours (no longer than 3 hours, or the rice will harden).

Using a sharp knife dipped in hot water, cut into neat bite-sized squares.

Garnish with fresh dill or microgreens and serve with soy or teriyaki dipping sauce.

Tip: For a twist, add a thin layer of avocado slices or a touch of wasabi between the rice and salmon for an extra burst of flavor.
