If you love homemade baked goods, these savory cheese rolls are a recipe to keep. They’re soft, golden, and filled with creamy cheese — the kind of rolls you’ll want to bake again and again.

Ingredients (about 30 rolls):

7 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

1 ½ teaspoons salt

2 large eggs

½ cup vegetable or olive oil

1 ½ cups warm milk

1 cup crumbled feta or farmer’s cheese

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small cubes

1 egg yolk, for brushing

Sesame seeds or poppy seeds, for topping

How to make them:

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in ½ cup of warm milk. Let it sit 10 minutes, until bubbly.

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the eggs, oil, the yeast mixture, and the rest of the warm milk. Knead until the dough is smooth and slightly elastic, about 8–10 minutes.

Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rest for 45–60 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Punch it down, then divide into 6–8 pieces. Roll each piece into a circle and cut into 6–8 triangles.

Place a little feta at the base of each triangle, then roll tightly into a crescent.

Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment, dot a little butter between them, cover, and let rise again for 15 minutes.

Brush with egg yolk, sprinkle with seeds, and bake at 390°F (200°C) for 15 minutes, until golden brown.

Serving idea: These are delicious warm with yogurt, but you can also skip the cheese and fill them with fruit preserves or chocolate for a sweet twist.
