Bake these golden sea salt rolls at home! Soft and fluffy inside with a lightly crisp crust, they make the perfect side for breakfast, soups, or family dinners.
Ingredients (makes about 18 pieces):
7 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 packet active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
2 large eggs
½ cup sunflower oil
1 ½ cups warm milk
½ cup warm water
For finishing:
1 beaten egg
Coarse sea salt
Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds
Directions:
Stir the yeast with warm water, sugar, and 2 tablespoons of the flour. Leave 10 minutes until bubbly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour with salt. Add the eggs, oil, warm milk, and the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 3 equal parts. Roll each part into a large circle, then cut into wedges (like pizza slices). Roll each wedge from the wide end toward the tip to form crescents.
Arrange on a parchment-lined tray, cover loosely, and let rise for another 20 minutes.
Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle generously with sea salt, and add sesame or poppy seeds if you like.
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
Serving idea: These rolls are wonderful with butter at breakfast, but they also pair perfectly with soup or as a sandwich base.
