Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, these yogurt fried dough bites are the ultimate comfort food-perfect with cheese or a dollop of yogurt.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup plain yogurt
1 large egg
1 tsp baking powder (about half a packet)
2 to 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, enough for a soft dough
1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
Oil for frying
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, egg, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add flour until you form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
Use a spoon to scoop small portions of dough and carefully drop them into the hot oil.
Fry until golden brown on all sides, then drain on paper towels.
Serve warm with yogurt, sour cream, or fresh cheese.
Tip:
These taste best straight out of the pan, but you can also dust them with powdered sugar for a sweet version.
