A classic seafood boil brings together shrimp, crab, corn, potatoes, and sausage in a flavorful, seasoned broth. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Ingredients (serves 4–6):
- 10 cups water
- 3 tablespoons Cajun or Creole seafood seasoning
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 lb baby red potatoes, halved
- 2 medium shallots, halved
- 1/2 lb Andouille or smoked kielbasa, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 5 garlic cloves, smashed
- 2 ears fresh corn, cut into 3–4 pieces
- 1 lb medium shrimp, shells on or peeled, deveined
- 1 lb snow crab clusters or blue crab pieces
- Optional: pinch of crushed red pepper for extra heat
- Crusty French bread, melted butter, and cocktail sauce for serving
Instructions:
- Fill a large pot with water, seafood seasoning, and lemon juice. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Add the halved potatoes and shallots. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add the sausage and smashed garlic cloves. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Toss in the corn pieces and cook until the potatoes and corn are fully tender, about 5 minutes more.
- Finally, add shrimp and crab. Cook 3–4 minutes until shrimp turn pink and crab is heated through. Optional: sprinkle crushed red pepper for extra spice.
- Drain and transfer to a large serving platter. Serve immediately with crusty bread, melted butter, and cocktail sauce.
