Soft, golden homemade doughnuts filled with sweet apricot jam. Light, fluffy, and perfect for cozy mornings or festive treats.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Apricot jam, for filling
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

Warm the milk until just lukewarm, then stir in the sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes, until foamy.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix gradually until a soft, smooth dough forms.

Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat. Lightly oil your hands and shape the dough into small balls. Carefully place them into the hot oil and fry, turning gently, until golden brown on all sides.

Remove the doughnuts and drain them on paper towels. Once slightly cooled, make a small indentation in the center of each doughnut and spoon in the apricot jam.

Serve fresh and enjoy while still soft and warm.
