Soft and fluffy apricot jam crescent rolls made from scratch with a hint of orange zest. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack. Easy to bake and irresistible!
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm almond milk (or regular milk)
1/3 cup maple syrup (or honey)
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon orange zest
1 cup apricot jam (or any fruit jam of choice)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm almond milk with maple syrup. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour with melted butter, egg yolks, and orange zest. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small ball.
- Flatten each ball slightly, place about 1 teaspoon of jam in the center, and roll into a crescent shape, sealing the edges.
- Arrange the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them rest for 10–15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly before serving.
