This simple quince preserve recipe lets you enjoy the sweet and fragrant flavor of ripe quinces all year round. Made with just a few basic ingredients, it’s easy to prepare and perfect for preserving homemade goodness.
Ingredients:
- About 2.2 pounds ripe quinces
- 3 ½ cups sugar
- ½ cup water
Preparation:
Wash, peel, core, and slice the quinces. Place the slices in cold water to prevent browning. In a pot, combine water and sugar, and cook until the sugar dissolves completely. Drain the quince slices and add them to the pot. Stir gently with a silver spoon to help the slices absorb the syrup. Cook until the quinces are tender but not falling apart. Carefully remove the quinces from the syrup and place them in jars. Continue to cook the syrup until it thickens to the consistency of honey. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly. Pour the syrup over the quinces in the jars, and place a bay leaf in each jar. Once completely cooled, seal the jars tightly.
