Bright orange Mango Sauce in a small white bowl, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime slices, with visible smooth texture and tropical presentation on a wooden table.

This Mango Sauce is a bold, tropical blend of ripe mango, fresh ginger, lime, and a touch of heat. Unlike traditional sweet sauces, this version balances natural fruit sweetness with smoky spice and citrus brightness, making it perfect for grilled chicken, seafood, tacos, or as a vibrant dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 small red chili, finely chopped
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced (about 2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add red onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in grated ginger and chopped chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add diced mangoes, orange juice, honey, rice vinegar, smoked paprika, coriander, and salt. Stir well.
  4. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mango softens and the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  6. Transfer to a blender, add lime juice and fresh cilantro, and blend until smooth and silky.
  7. Serve warm or chilled.

Yield: About 2 cups
