Hummus is a classic Middle Eastern spread known for its creamy texture and rich, nutty flavor. Made from chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic, it’s both healthy and satisfying — perfect as a dip, sandwich spread, or side dish.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked chickpeas (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • ¼–½ cup warm water or chickpea liquid
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for serving
  • Optional: a pinch of cumin or smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, garlic, tahini, and lemon juice. Blend until the mixture starts to come together.
  2. Slowly pour in warm water (or chickpea liquid) until the hummus becomes creamy and smooth.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste. Spoon into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with paprika or herbs if desired.

Enjoy with warm pita bread, vegetable sticks, or as part of a Mediterranean platter.
