Hummus is a classic Middle Eastern spread known for its creamy texture and rich, nutty flavor. Made from chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic, it’s both healthy and satisfying — perfect as a dip, sandwich spread, or side dish.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups cooked chickpeas (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)
- Juice of 1 large lemon
- ¼–½ cup warm water or chickpea liquid
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Olive oil for serving
- Optional: a pinch of cumin or smoked paprika
Instructions:
- In a food processor, combine chickpeas, garlic, tahini, and lemon juice. Blend until the mixture starts to come together.
- Slowly pour in warm water (or chickpea liquid) until the hummus becomes creamy and smooth.
- Add salt and pepper to taste. Spoon into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with paprika or herbs if desired.
Enjoy with warm pita bread, vegetable sticks, or as part of a Mediterranean platter.
