Indulge in these festive Christmas truffles, packed with creamy chocolate, a hint of citrus, and nutty crunch—a perfect treat for the holiday season.
Servings: About 6 dozen
Ingredients:
- 8 oz dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1/4 cup of your choice of liqueur (brandy or orange liqueur work well)
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 3 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/2 cup almond meal or finely crushed graham cracker crumbs
- 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup finely chopped toasted nuts (walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts)
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder (for rolling)
Instructions:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the dark chocolate on medium power in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
- Once the chocolate is melted, stir in your choice of liqueur, lemon zest, orange juice, almond meal, powdered sugar, and chopped toasted nuts. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for about 2 hours, or until it firms up enough to be shaped into balls.
- Once chilled, use a small scoop or your hands to form the mixture into 1-inch balls.
- Roll each truffle in the cocoa powder, ensuring an even coating.
- Place the truffles in an airtight container and store them in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. These treats stay fresh for several weeks.
