Ditch the store-bought snacks and bake these buttery cheese biscuits instead!
As the cold winter days set in, there’s nothing better than cozying up with these homemade cheese biscuits. They’re flaky, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, perfect for snacking or serving alongside your favorite soup.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (8.8 oz) all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 cup (8 oz) unsalted butter, softened and crumbled
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 cup (8 oz) fresh cheese or farmer’s cheese
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour and make a small well in the center. Add the butter, egg yolks, cheese, baking powder, and salt into the well.
- Mix and knead the ingredients into a smooth dough. Fold the dough over itself 5-6 times for extra flakiness.
- Roll out the dough, fold it, and repeat. Once folded, let it rest in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a round cutter to form biscuits.
- Place biscuits on a lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with a beaten egg yolk for a golden finish.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
