Ingredients for Tomek’s Breaded Schnitzels:
- 400 g ground meat (half pork, half beef)
- 100 g red onion
- 4 slices of toast
- 2 eggs
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Finely chop the onion. Cut the toast into 1×1 cm cubes. Crush or finely chop the garlic.
Add the chopped ingredients, spices, eggs, mustard, and ketchup to the ground meat.
Knead all the ingredients together until a smooth mixture forms. The longer you knead, the more elastic the mixture becomes, which helps the patties not to break while frying.
Wet your hands and shape approximately 5 tablespoons of the mixture into a ball, then flatten it with your palms to a thickness of about 2-3 cm.
Add enough oil to a pan so that the patties are submerged halfway while frying. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes, then flip them. The patties are done when no liquid comes out when pierced (you can check by gently pricking with a toothpick).
The color should be dark brown, almost black, but be careful not to burn them; turn them regularly. Serve warm or cold.
