- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 10 oz smoked bacon
- 2 ½ tsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm water
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts
- 5 tbsp margarine
Instructions:
- Remove the skin from the bacon and soak it in hot water for about 3 minutes. Drain and place it on a clean kitchen towel.
- Cut the bacon into small cubes and sauté it in a pan until it turns golden brown.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the flour. Dissolve the yeast in a little warm water and add it to the flour.
- Add the salt, egg, and sugar. Mix the dough by hand or with a whisk until it starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
- Add the margarine, cut into small pieces, and the sautéed bacon. Continue kneading the dough.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- After an hour, knead the dough again to release any air bubbles.
- Grease a bundt pan with margarine and line the sides with chopped walnuts. Pour the dough into the pan.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and cooked through.
