Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 10 oz smoked bacon
  • 2 ½ tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts
  • 5 tbsp margarine

Instructions:

  1. Remove the skin from the bacon and soak it in hot water for about 3 minutes. Drain and place it on a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Cut the bacon into small cubes and sauté it in a pan until it turns golden brown.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add the flour. Dissolve the yeast in a little warm water and add it to the flour.
  4. Add the salt, egg, and sugar. Mix the dough by hand or with a whisk until it starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Add the margarine, cut into small pieces, and the sautéed bacon. Continue kneading the dough.
  6. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
  7. After an hour, knead the dough again to release any air bubbles.
  8. Grease a bundt pan with margarine and line the sides with chopped walnuts. Pour the dough into the pan.
  9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and cooked through.
