Sand Bar Cookies are sweet and nutty treats, perfect for any occasion. They are made with a mix of walnuts, pecans, and chocolate chips, giving them a rich and crunchy texture.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter + 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup flour, sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3 cups pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter a 9×9-inch pan.
  2. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder, then set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture and blend until well combined.
  7. Fold in the walnuts, pecans, and chocolate chips.
  8. Spread the batter evenly in the greased pan.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before cutting into squares.
