With simple ingredients and a little love, you can create delicious, wholesome pizzas right at home.

Homemade Whole Wheat Pizza Dough (Serves 4)

Ingredients:

8 cups whole wheat flour

1 tbsp baking powder

2 tsp brown sugar

4 cups lukewarm water (half milk, half water)

7 tbsp unsalted butter or ghee

2 tbsp cold-pressed olive oil

2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 tbsp sea salt

Instructions:

In a small bowl, mix yeast with 1 cup lukewarm milk-water blend and 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit until foamy, about 10 minutes.

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.

Add yeast mixture and the rest of the milk-water blend to the dry ingredients. Stir while slowly adding olive oil and melted butter, kneading until the dough comes together.

Knead by hand or with a mixer until bubbles start to form and the dough is elastic, about 8-10 minutes.

Shape dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.

Punch down the dough and spread it evenly onto a greased baking sheet, about ½ to 1 inch thick depending on your crust preference.
