Preserved lemons are an easy way to add bold flavor to your cooking. Just a few ingredients and some time are all you need. They’re salty, tangy, and perfect for adding to salads, soups, chicken, or rice dishes.
Ingredients:
10 lemons
1 cup sea salt
10 star anise pods
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tablespoons coriander seeds
Instructions:
- Juice 6 lemons and set the juice aside.
- Cut the remaining 4 lemons into quarters, but don’t cut all the way through—leave the pieces attached at the base if you prefer the traditional style.
- In a clean glass jar, layer the lemons with sea salt, star anise, cinnamon sticks, and coriander seeds, packing them tightly.
- Pour the lemon juice over the top until the lemons are fully covered.
- Seal the jar tightly and store in a cool, dry place for at least 1 month.
- Before using, give the jar a good stir or shake.
- Preserved lemons will keep for up to 6 months when stored properly.
