Hot dog rolls often have a slightly sweet flavor to complement the savory taste of the sausage and toppings like ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, or sauerkraut. Variations of hot dog rolls include whole wheat, gluten-free, or brioche versions, catering to different preferences and dietary needs.
Hot Dog Rolls Ingredients:
8 hot dogs
8 slices of yellow cheese
8 thin slices of bacon
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon thyme
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Peel the hot dogs if they have a casing and make a lengthwise slit down each one. Cut the cheese into thin strips and place them inside the slits. Wrap each hot dog with a slice of bacon, sprinkle with thyme and black pepper, and secure with a toothpick.
Place the prepared hot dogs in a baking dish, add a tablespoon of butter, and bake at 400°F for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the bacon is crispy.
Serve on lettuce leaves and garnish with tomato slices if desired.
Tip: To reduce the greasiness, you can use smoked or dried meat instead of bacon.
Alternative Version:
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of hot dogs (6 pieces)
- 6-7 ounces (about 150-200 g) of bacon
- Cooking oil
Instructions:
Cut each hot dog into three equal pieces and slice the bacon into thin strips. Wrap each hot dog piece with a strip of bacon, secure with a toothpick, and place in an oiled baking pan.
Bake in a preheated oven at 480°F for about 10 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy.
Serve warm, garnished as desired.
