Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of day-old bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter, for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a bit of butter and let it melt.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides lightly but evenly.
  4. Place the slices in the skillet and cook until golden brown on one side, about 2–3 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until browned and crisp.
  5. Serve hot with powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh fruit, or a dollop of whipped cream.
