Strawberry season is in full swing, and there’s no better way to celebrate it than with a dessert straight from grandma’s kitchen. This moist, fragrant, and irresistibly simple cake will make your whole house smell like summer. With just a few ingredients and a few minutes of prep, this strawberry cake proves that the best recipes are often the ones passed down through generations.

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup fine semolina (grits)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 10 oz fresh strawberries (cut in half if large)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 390°F (200°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift in the flour, semolina, and baking powder. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the oil and yogurt, stirring gently to combine.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Arrange the strawberries evenly over the top of the batter, cut side down.
  7. Bake for about 30–35 minutes, or until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
