When you’re looking to make a family meal, chicken paprikash is a great choice. Full of flavor, tender meat, and colorful veggies, it’s the kind of dish that brings everyone to the table.
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken drumsticks with thighs
- 1 chicken breast (boneless, skinless)
- 1 medium onion
- 2 carrots
- ½ celery root (or 1 stalk celery as substitute)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 potato
- 1 tablespoon tomato purée
- 2–3 bay leaves
- Dried seasoning mix (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley
- Cooking oil
Preparation:
Chop the onion into small cubes and sauté briefly in a bit of oil.
Add the cleaned and sliced carrots, bay leaves, chopped celery root (or celery stalk), and red bell pepper cut into cubes.
While the vegetables are simmering, separate the meat: remove the drumsticks and thighs from the bones, and cut all meat (including the chicken breast) into chunks.
Add the meat to the simmered vegetables and cook together for about 10 minutes, until the meat turns white.
Meanwhile, peel and dice the potato. Add it along with the tomato purée, ground paprika, and dried seasoning to taste.
Continue cooking for another 15 minutes or until everything is tender.
Pour in enough hot water to cover everything well in the pot.
Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for about an hour.
Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
