Using a bread machine makes the dough effortless, while baking them fresh in the oven gives you that irresistible golden finish. These rolls are especially loved during holidays, but once you try them, you’ll want to bake them year-round.
Butter Rolls Ingredients
- 6 to 7 oz milk, room temperature
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/4 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
How to Make Butter Rolls in a Bread Machine
- Add the milk, water, butter, and egg to the bread machine pan.
- Sprinkle in the sugar and salt, then add the bread flour. Make a small well on top and add the yeast.
- Select the Dough setting on your bread machine and start the cycle.
- When the dough cycle finishes, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the dough using a biscuit cutter or round glass. Arrange the rolls evenly in a greased baking pan.
- Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray or brush with melted butter. Cover with a clean towel and let rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Bake the rolls for 20–30 minutes, until golden brown and soft.
- Optional: Brush warm rolls with melted butter for extra richness.
