Angel Hair With Balsamic Tomatoes is one of those simple pasta dishes that feels elegant without any effort. The delicate pasta pairs beautifully with juicy tomatoes, fragrant basil, and the gentle sweetness of balsamic vinegar. It’s light, fresh, and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a relaxed summer meal.

Angel Hair With Balsamic Tomatoes Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 5–6 Roma tomatoes, chopped (or 1 (28-oz) can plum tomatoes, drained)
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 pound angel hair pasta, uncooked
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

How to Make Angel Hair With Balsamic Tomatoes

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté just until lightly golden and fragrant. Remove the skillet from heat, leaving the garlic in the pan.

In a non-reactive bowl, combine the tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, basil, sugar (if using), and red pepper flakes. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to develop.

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Just before adding the pasta, drain the tomatoes, reserving the juices.

Add the angel hair pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package directions (usually 4–5 minutes).

While the pasta cooks, reheat the skillet with garlic over medium heat. Add the drained tomatoes and gently toss for 1–2 minutes, just until warmed. The tomatoes should keep their shape.

Drain the pasta and immediately toss it with the warm tomatoes and reserved tomato juices. Mix gently until evenly coated.

Serve right away with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Serving Tip

This pasta is best enjoyed immediately while the flavors are fresh and bright. Serve with crusty bread and a simple green salad for a complete meal.
