Soft, quick, and fluffy flatbreads perfect for sandwiches, dips, or as a side. Easy to make at home with simple ingredients and ready in under an hour.
Ingredients (makes 4 medium flatbreads):
1 1/2 cups warm water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until bubbly.
Add oil, salt, and flour. Using a stand mixer with a dough hook or a spoon, mix until a soft, sticky dough forms.
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise for 40 minutes until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions (or 6–8 for smaller flatbreads). Shape each portion into a round mound and place on the prepared sheet.
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
Serve warm as a side, for sandwiches, or with dips.
Tips:
Brush the tops with olive oil before baking for extra flavor.
Sprinkle sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or herbs on top for a decorative touch.
These flatbreads freeze well; reheat in the oven or toaster before serving.
