Tender beef slices flavored with fresh ginger and garlic, finished with a rich, savory sauce. Quick to make yet elegant enough for any dinner.
Ingredients:
1.5 lbs (680 g) beef tenderloin, trimmed and cut into thick steaks
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely grated (or ½ teaspoon ground ginger)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 tablespoons dry white wine
2 tablespoons oyster sauce (or light soy sauce)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon butter
1½ teaspoons cornstarch
Salt, to taste
Preparation:
Lightly coat the beef steaks with cornstarch.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ginger, garlic, and black pepper; stir for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
Sear the beef for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
Brush the steaks with oyster sauce, pour in the wine, cover, and simmer on low for 3–4 minutes.
Remove from heat, stir in butter to the pan sauce, and pour over the steaks.
Serve immediately on warm plates.
