I found a recipe for Sweet and Sour Chicken, tried it and it’s fantastic!
White chicken meat is cut into strips that are briefly fried in very hot oil – they should remain juicy and should not be overfried.
On the other hand – a larger, deeper pan –
sesame oil (although I used olive oil, because I didn’t have any other oil),
- garlic (you can also use granules from a bag)
- grated ginger (can also be from a bag),
- corn starch (can also be regular or corn flour)
- canned juice with pineapple (leave the pineapple aside for a while)
- pepper
- soy sauce (but the real salty one)
- a little spicy ketchup or tomato juice
- if you also have some seasoning for Chinese dishes
Everything has to boil. Chopped canned pineapple (diced) is added and the fried chicken meat is added.
The longer it simmers on low heat, the better (because the sauce needs to thicken a bit).
Serving (of course) with cooked rice.
Sweet and Sour Chicken – Quantities approximate.
Some variation is that those strips of chicken are first puffed (pulled through the dough like for pancakes)
