Delicious Meat-Free Dish – Soy Goulash
Ingredients:
- About 350 grams of soy schnitzels
- Garlic
- Bacon
- Hot chili pepper (or substitute with chili powder or black pepper)
- Mustard
- seasoning
- Cumin (optional)
- Tomato juice
- Potato
- Sugar
Preparation:
- Soak about 350 grams of soy schnitzels in lukewarm water for about 30 minutes to soften them. Then cut them into cubes and place them in a bowl.
- Prepare a special seasoning: finely chop garlic, bacon, and hot chili pepper (or use chili powder or black pepper if you don’t have fresh chili). Add cumin to taste if desired.
- Spread mustard on one side of the soy cubes and season both sides generously with seasoning. This is my secret trick to eliminate the specific taste and smell of soy.
- Place the prepared soy cubes in an oiled skillet or pan and cook on low heat.
- Add the prepared seasoning mixture to the pan and let it cook.
- Once the onions in the mixture turn translucent, add 1/3 water and 2/3 tomato juice. Stir well and add a pinch of sugar (this is essential to balance the acidity of the tomato juice).
- Slice one potato and add it to the dish to cook alongside the other ingredients.
- The dish is ready when the potato is fully cooked, which takes about 30 minutes.
This soy goulash pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes. Enjoy your meal!
