Souvlaki is a popular Greek dish known for its deliciously marinated and grilled meat. Traditionally made with pork, lamb, or chicken, this version uses beef schnitzel for a flavorful twist. Ingredients:
- 4 slices beef schnitzel
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 cup natural yogurt
- 100 grams sour cream
- Pita bread (2-3 per person)
- Tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, spring onions, finely chopped
Instructions:
- Thinly slice the beef and marinate for at least 1 hour in the fridge with oil, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Prepare fresh vegetables.
- Cook the meat in a wok for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked through. (Optional: Add thinly sliced red and green peppers while cooking.)
- Heat pitas in the oven at a medium temperature until warmed through.
- Fill pitas with hot meat and salad, then spoon over the sauce. Eat immediately.
Sauce:
Mix yogurt, sour cream, and finely chopped garlic. Refrigerate until well chilled.
