If you want to decorate your Easter table with adorable pastries, try this easy bunny-shaped pastry recipe. The dough is mixed in just a few minutes, and forming the bunny shape is simple. You can fill them with jam or cream, or serve them plain.

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • For glazing: 1 egg

Simple Bunny-Shaped Pastry Recipe:

Step 1: Make the dough
In a bowl, combine the sifted flour, milk, sugar, room-temperature butter, egg, salt, and yeast. Mix everything well until the dough is smooth and all ingredients are combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Step 2: Shape the bunnies
Divide the dough into small balls weighing about 3 oz each. Cover them with plastic wrap again and let them rise for another 15 minutes. Take one ball and roll it into a snake-like shape. Cut the ends off. Roll the larger portion like a cinnamon roll, leaving the shorter end for the tail. For the ears, flatten the other end a bit more, slice it down the middle (not all the way through), and place it on top of the rolled dough. Use a peppercorn or small piece of dough for the eye. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.

Step 3: Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the bunny pastries with the beaten egg and bake for about 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Tips for the Perfect Bunny Pastry:

  • Flavor Variations: Feel free to experiment with different fillings! You can use jam, chocolate chips, or a dollop of vanilla cream inside the dough before shaping them. A little extra sweetness can really take these pastries to the next level.
  • Make it Gluten-Free: You can substitute the all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version of this recipe.
  • Storage: These bunny pastries are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
