Dyeing eggs is a fun Easter tradition for both kids and adults. It’s a great way to be creative and spend time with family. This easy method uses food coloring and paper towels to make colorful, unique eggs — no fancy tools needed!

What You’ll Need:

  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring (liquid or powder – 2 to 3 colors)
  • Water
  • Paper towels or napkins (large enough to wrap around eggs)

Start by boiling your eggs. Place them in a pot, cover with cold water, and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Boil over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Once they’re done, drain the water and cool the eggs under cold running water.

While the eggs are cooling, prepare your food coloring. In separate small cups or bowls, mix each color with a small amount of water. Use just enough water to help the color spread, but keep it concentrated for bold results.

Lay a paper towel flat on a clean surface. Use a dropper or spoon to drip small amounts of different colors onto the towel. You can stick to one color or mix a few for a fun tie-dye look. Once the towel is covered in color, place one egg in the middle and gently wrap the towel around it. The dye will soak through the paper and color the egg.

Let the wrapped eggs sit for about an hour so the colors can fully absorb and dry. After that, carefully unwrap the eggs and set them aside. You’ll see each one has a unique, colorful pattern.

This method is simple, fast, and a great way to make beautiful Easter eggs with supplies you probably already have at home.
