This cozy, homemade pasta dish is full of flavor — tender beef, buttery mushrooms, and a touch of tomato come together for a rich, hearty meal. It’s simple to make and perfect for any day of the week.
Ingredients:
1 pound pasta (macaroni, penne, or fusilli)
1 pound mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
10 ounces beef, cut into small cubes
1 small onion, finely chopped
6 tablespoons butter (divided)
1 cup beef broth
½ cup tomato sauce
2 cups water
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup shredded cheese (Gruyère or mozzarella)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pan and cook the mushrooms with lemon juice for about 8–10 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside with their juices.
In the same pan, melt 2 more tablespoons of butter and sauté the onion until soft. Add the beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
Stir in the tomato sauce, beef broth, and water. Simmer for about 20–25 minutes until the meat becomes tender. Add the mushrooms back in and mix well.
Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente, then drain and toss with the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter.
Pour the mushroom and beef sauce over the pasta, sprinkle with cheese, and toss gently. Serve warm.
