Whether you prefer them mashed, fried, or baked, potatoes always deliver a satisfying taste. They’re perfect as side dishes or appetizers and can be easily combined with different ingredients like cheese, herbs, and meats to elevate the flavor.

Potato Appetizers

Potato Pudding with Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 400 g potatoes
  • 100 g butter
  • 250 g mushrooms
  • 0.5 dcl oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable seasoning
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • 4 eggs
  • 80 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 dcl milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:
Boil the potatoes, peel, and mash them. Slice the mushrooms into quarters and sauté them in oil, then add vegetable seasoning and chopped parsley. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Whisk 80 g of butter with 4 egg yolks, then add the mashed potatoes, breadcrumbs soaked in milk, mushrooms, salt, pepper, and beaten egg whites. Mix well.
Pour into a buttered and breadcrumb-dusted pudding mold. Steam for 40 minutes. Serve immediately.

Mother Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 750 g potatoes
  • 1.5 dcl oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 150 g hard cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:
Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rings. Fry them in hot oil, stirring occasionally, until softened. Add salt and pepper.
Crack the eggs on top of the potatoes and sprinkle with grated cheese. Cook covered for a little while longer and serve warm.

Potato Patties

Ingredients:

  • 500 g potatoes
  • 100 g ham
  • 100 g cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g semolina
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Breadcrumbs

Preparation:
Boil and peel the potatoes, then grate them. Add the egg, semolina, parsley, finely chopped or grated ham, cheese, and salt. Form the mixture into patties, coat them in breadcrumbs, and fry in hot oil.

Mashed Potatoes with Tuna or Sardines

Ingredients:

  • Boiled potatoes for mashed potatoes
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • Ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 cans of tuna or sardines

Preparation:
Mash the boiled potatoes and mix with garlic, parsley, and black pepper. Add salt to taste, then blend in the tuna or sardines. Mix well and serve as an appetizer.

Bulgarian-style Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • Medium-sized white potatoes
  • Salted water
  • Plain flour
  • Cornmeal
  • Paprika
  • seasoning
  • Ground black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Oil for frying

Preparation:
Peel and slice the potatoes into wedges and boil in salted water until almost cooked.
Prepare a mixture of plain flour, cornmeal, paprika, seasoning, pepper, and garlic powder. Coat the potatoes in this mixture and fry in hot oil until crispy and golden. Serve with fish or meat.

Potato Croquettes

Ingredients:

  • 500 g boiled potatoes
  • 100 g fresh cheese
  • 100 g flour
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • A handful of chopped parsley

Preparation:
Make mashed potatoes, then add fresh cheese and flour. Mix well and season with salt. Shape the mixture into croquettes and fry in hot oil. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.

Cheese Potato Croquettes

Ingredients:

1 kg potatoes
3 eggs
70 g grated Parmesan
Breadcrumbs
Half a bunch of parsley
Salt and pepper
Oil for frying
Preparation:
Boil the potatoes with their skins, peel and mash them. Add Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg yolks, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper, then mix well.
Shape the mixture into balls, dip them in beaten egg whites, coat in breadcrumbs, and fry in hot oil.
Place the croquettes on paper towels to absorb excess oil and serve hot.
