Meringue Cake is a simple, elegant meringue-based treat often served at holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings. Known for its crisp yet tender meringue layers, rich custard filling, and toasted hazelnuts, this cake brings a nostalgic, old-world charm to the dessert table.
What makes this cake so popular is its simplicity and versatility. Many home bakers love it because it uses basic pantry ingredients like eggs, sugar, and milk, yet delivers a rich, indulgent flavor. Some families add hazelnuts or walnuts for extra texture and depth, while others keep it plain and light.
It’s one of those desserts you’ll find at weddings, Sunday lunches, and festive tables — made a hundred times and never quite the same, because every grandmother and auntie has her own secret touch.

You can swap hazelnuts for walnuts or leave them out entirely.
Toasting the nuts enhances flavor and texture.
Best made a day ahead for the flavors to settle.
