Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the topping:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • Fresh dill, parsley, or thyme (your choice of herbs)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy and bubbly.
  2. Add salt, vegetable oil, and flour to the yeast mixture, then knead the dough until it becomes soft and smooth.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 40-60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough rises, mince the garlic and chop the herbs. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic, water, and herbs. Set aside.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 15 small balls. Arrange the dough balls on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and let them rise for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. After baking, immediately brush the warm rolls with the garlic and herb mixture. Cover them with plastic wrap and let them rest for 10-20 minutes before serving.
