If you find yourself constantly grabbing gummy candies from the store, it’s time to try making your own. These homemade gummies are naturally sweet, made with real fruit juice, and require only three simple ingredients. They’re fun, customizable, and way healthier than store-bought versions.

Whether you’re making them for kids (who will love helping out!) or just want a guilt-free treat for yourself, this is the easiest recipe to get started with.

Ingredients:

1 cup 100% fruit juice (apple, orange, grape, or cherry – avoid raw pineapple, kiwi, or papaya as they prevent setting)

2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder (beef or pork gelatin works best)

1–2 tablespoons honey or pure maple syrup (optional, to taste)

Equipment:

Small saucepan

Whisk

Silicone gummy molds (or a shallow dish if molds aren’t available)

Instructions:

Pour the juice into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface of the juice. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to bloom and absorb the liquid.

Once bloomed, gently stir the mixture with a whisk. Place the saucepan over low heat and stir continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture becomes smooth and liquid. Do not let it boil — this usually takes about 2–3 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the honey or maple syrup if using. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.

While the mixture is still warm and liquid, carefully pour it into your silicone molds. If using a dish, pour the entire mixture in evenly.

Place the molds (or dish) into the refrigerator and chill for 30 to 60 minutes, or until fully set.

Unmolding and Storage:

Once firm, gently pop the gummies out of the molds. If you used a dish, cut the gelatin sheet into cubes or fun shapes.

Store your homemade gummies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
