Dandelion is famous for its many health benefits. The whole plant, including the leaves, roots, and flowers, is edible and packed with nutrients. People often use dandelion to support digestion, improve liver health, and reduce inflammation. It is also known to help detoxify the body.

Dandelion Root Tea

Ingredients: 1 teaspoon of crushed dried dandelion root.

Preparation: Place the crushed root in lukewarm water. Heat until boiling, then simmer for an additional 10 minutes before straining.

Usage: Drink 1 cup two to three times a day before meals. This tea aids digestion, supports liver detoxification, promotes sweating, helps eliminate toxins from the blood and body, cleanses the respiratory tract, and is beneficial for managing high cholesterol levels.

Dandelion Root Juice

Ingredients: Freshly dug dandelion root and leaves.

Preparation: Juice the dandelion root in a juicer and consume it fresh.

Benefits: The root influences all bodily excretions, particularly bile, removing toxins that cause fatigue. It has a refreshing and invigorating effect. It can also be taken mixed with a bit of milk and honey in the morning on an empty stomach. For a nutrient-rich juice, you can add carrots, apples, and beets to the juicer.

Dandelion Leaves and Roots Salad

Ingredients: Freshly picked dandelion leaves and roots, lemon juice, olive oil, and minced garlic.

Preparation: Thoroughly clean and wash the leaves and roots before they flower. Chop them and drizzle with lemon juice. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 hours, then add olive oil and finely chopped garlic.

Usage: This salad is used in spring as a blood and body cleanser.

Dandelion Wine

Ingredients: 10 cups of dandelion blossoms (picked at noon on a sunny, dry day), 1.5 kg of sugar, the zest of 2 oranges and 2 lemons, and water.

Preparation: In a large pot, mix the dandelion blossoms with sugar and the citrus peels. Boil water in another pot and pour it over the dandelion mixture, simmering for another 30 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

After cooling, strain through double cheesecloth, then add the juice of 2 oranges and 2 lemons. In half a cup of lukewarm water, dissolve a packet of wine yeast, and once it foams, mix it into the dandelion juice while stirring.

Optional: Enhance flavor and aroma by adding 10 cloves, cinnamon, grated ginger, or similar spices. Cover with a cloth and place in a warm spot to ferment.

After 5 days, once the mixture has fermented, strain again through double cheesecloth and transfer to glass bottles, sealing them tightly and storing in a cool, dark place. After six months, your dandelion wine is ready to enjoy. It will be a bright yellow color, strong, and very fizzy. Drinking a glass daily can help strengthen the body, boost metabolism, and cleanse the blood.

Dandelion Jam

Ingredients: 300 fresh dandelion flower heads, 3 liters of water, 3 lemons, 3 oranges, and 3 kg of sugar.

Preparation: In a pot, bring the dandelion heads and water to a boil. Once boiling, add the sliced lemons and oranges, cooking while stirring until everything dissolves. You can blend the mixture with an immersion blender. Next, add the sugar and cook, stirring until it dissolves, then thicken the mixture with melted gelatin or another gelling agent.

Usage: This jam is recommended for breakfast, especially for individuals suffering from anemia and liver issues.

Dandelion Liqueur

Ingredients: Fresh dandelion roots, sliced, and 1 liter of grappa.

Preparation: In a wide-mouthed jar, layer four handfuls of fresh dandelion roots and pour in the grappa. Seal and let it sit for two months in a shaded spot. Afterward, strain through double cheesecloth.
