Grandma’s Donuts recipe is a lovely, nostalgic treat that’s simple to make and perfect for any occasion. With just a handful of ingredients, these fluffy donuts come together quickly. The dough is soft and rises beautifully, creating airy donuts with a golden, crispy exterior.

Ingredients:

  • 750g flour
  • 100ml oil
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 500ml milk
  • 40g fresh yeast
  • A pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve the yeast in 100ml of warm milk with a pinch of sugar and a bit of flour, and let it rise.
  2. While the yeast is rising, whisk the egg and egg yolk with the remaining milk, sugar, and salt. Add the risen yeast mixture, then gradually incorporate the flour and oil, stirring continuously until you get a smooth dough.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size. Knead it briefly, roll it out to about 1 cm thickness, and use a glass or cutter to form donut shapes.
  4. Allow the donuts to rise for about 30 more minutes, then fry them in hot oil until golden brown.
  5. Start frying with the risen side facing down.
  6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar, and serve warm.
