Learn how to make crispy and delicious fried cheese in a simple way!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 lb (450 g) semi-hard cheese (such as cheddar or provolone), cut into cubes
  • 4 cups (1 liter) oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet or plate with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  3. Dip each cheese cube into the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Shake off the excess, then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, coat the cheese in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.
  4. Place the coated cheese cubes on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep saucepan until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the cheese cubes in batches and fry until golden brown, turning as needed.
  6. Transfer the fried cheese to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Repeat with the remaining cheese.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Pro Tip:
For the best results, freeze the breaded cheese for about 40 minutes before frying. The breading should be thin but fully cover the cheese to prevent any gaps, ensuring the coating stays intact and doesn’t stick to the pan during frying.
