Delicious Jam-Filled Balls Ingredients:
- 250 g butter (margarine can be used as a substitute)
- 125 g sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 225 g flour
- 175 g cornstarch
For the filling:
- 100 g shredded coconut
- Red marmalade (recommended for the best look)
- 1 egg white
Preparation:
- Mix the butter, sugar, and egg yolks thoroughly. Add the vanilla sugar, flour, and cornstarch, and combine well. Chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough into approximately 50 small balls (about the size of a walnut). Press each ball gently in the middle with your finger to form a small indentation.
- Coat the balls with egg white and roll them in shredded coconut.
- Fill the indentations with red marmalade for a visually appealing touch.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes.
These treats taste even better after resting overnight!
Date Balls (Optional Variation) Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 200 g crushed biscuits (not too finely grated)
- 500 g date paste (or blend dates into a paste)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 50 g chopped walnuts
Preparation:
- Melt the margarine and sugar over a double boiler. Once melted, add the date paste and stir until you achieve a thick, homogeneous mixture.
- Remove from heat, add the egg, and quickly mix to incorporate.
- Return to heat and stir in the walnuts and crushed biscuits. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are combined.
- While the mixture is still warm, shape it into small balls.
- Roll the balls in your choice of crushed walnuts, coconut, cocoa powder, crushed biscuits, or sesame seeds.
