CUCUMBER SALAD FOR THE WINTER “WINTER KING” (STERILIZATION IS NOT NECESSARY).
This is one of the most common cucumber salad recipes for the winter. Cheap and spicy. A delicious and simple salad – it requires the simplest ingredients and is easy to prepare. It is important to maintain the proportions, then it will turn out delicious – you will lick your fingers! And the bright green color of the salad will delight your eyes in winter. The beauty of this salad is that it retains the taste and smell of fresh cucumbers even in winter, as if they were just picked from the garden.

Ingredients:
- Fresh cucumbers – 11 lbs
- Onion – 2.2 lbs
- Green dill (optional) – 10.5 oz
- 9% Vinegar (about 5 tablespoons) – 3.4 fl oz (⅖ cup)
- Sugar – 5 tablespoons
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Black peppercorns – to taste
Wash the cucumbers thoroughly; you can soak them in cold water for 1 hour if you like. Cut the cucumbers into half-moon slices. Peel and wash the onion, then slice it into half rings. Place the cucumbers and onions in a large bowl. Add the salt and let the mixture sit for 30 minutes so the cucumbers release their juice.
Wash and finely chop the dill if using. In a large pot, mix the vinegar, sugar, and black peppercorns. Add the drained cucumbers, onions, and dill to the pot and stir well.
Place the pot over low heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once the cucumbers change color slightly, remove from heat and quickly transfer the salad into sterilized jars. Fill the jars to the top so the marinade fully covers the cucumbers.
Wrap the jars, turn them upside down, and wrap again until they cool down. Sterilization is not necessary.
