Add a cheesy twist to your table with these homemade biscuits. Fluffy, tender, and loaded with rich flavor, they’re perfect as a side for soups, salads, or breakfasts.
Ingredients:
- 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter, chilled
- 2 tbsp shortening
- 1/3 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite)
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 450 °F. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Using a pastry cutter or fingers, work in the butter and shortening until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
Fold in the shredded cheese. Stir together the buttermilk and egg, then add to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. Lightly flour a surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick, and cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter.
Arrange the biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the tops turn golden and the edges are lightly crisp. Serve hot and enjoy the cheesy goodness!
