These butter breadsticks are soft and tasty. They are easy to make and great to eat any time. You will love how fluffy and light they are.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • ¼ cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 ¾ cups flour
  • 7 tablespoons butter
  • ½ to ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

For brushing:

  • 2 tablespoons cold milk
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter in the milk.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, salt, egg, yeast mixture, and milk with butter. Mix using dough hooks until you get a soft, silky dough.
  4. Cover with a cloth and let rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Dust a board with plenty of flour. Turn the dough onto it and knead gently. Divide into 10–12 balls.
  6. Roll each ball into an irregular shape, then form into breadstick rolls.
  7. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let rise another 10+ minutes until puffy.
  8. Brush each breadstick with cold milk mixed with an egg yolk.
  9. Bake at 450°F for about 10–15 minutes.

Savory Pastry Boats

Savory pastry boats are filled with creamy vegetable salad and topped with fresh herbs. A perfect appetizer or party snack that’s light and tasty.

Ingredients:

  • 3 ⅓ cups flour
  • Salt (about two pinches)
  • 7 tablespoons lard

Filling:

  • 3 ½ cups mixed cooked vegetables
  • 1 ¼ cups mayonnaise
  • Lemon juice, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Herb garnish (fresh sprigs, for decoration)

Instructions:
Mix the flour, salt, and lard in a bowl. Add just enough water to knead a smooth dough. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Roll out the dough, shape into small boat-like shells, poke each with a fork a few times, and bake for about 15 minutes.

Finely chop the cooked vegetables and mix with mayonnaise. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
Fill each pastry boat with the vegetable mixture and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
