Fresh blueberries, sugar, and a touch of citric acid come together in this simple homemade syrup. After a natural fermentation-like process, you get a thick, fruity syrup that can be diluted with water for a refreshing drink any time of year.
Ingredients:
11 pounds ripe blueberries, thoroughly washed
22 pounds granulated sugar
7 teaspoons citric acid
Directions:
Place the blueberries in a large container. Add the sugar and citric acid. Stir once a day for about 20 days, gently crushing the berries each time to release their juice. After this process, you’ll have a thick blueberry syrup that can be diluted with water to make a refreshing drink.
