This sauce blends malty beer with sweet honey and tangy spices for a bold, homemade barbecue flavor. Ideal for brushing over grilled meats or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients:

1 cup smoky barbecue base

1 cup tomato puree or ketchup

2/3 cup golden ale or lager

1/4 cup natural honey or molasses

2 tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice

2 tablespoons red wine or apple cider vinegar

2 teaspoons whole-grain or Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon savory Worcestershire-style seasoning

A pinch of hot sauce or chili paste

Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

2 cloves garlic, crushed

1 small onion, finely chopped

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk until smooth.

Coat meat, poultry, or vegetables in the sauce. Let sit for at least 1–2 hours at room temperature, or chill overnight for richer flavor.

When ready to cook, pour leftover sauce into a small pan and simmer gently until thickened, about 10 minutes.

Use as a glaze during grilling or serve as a dipping sauce alongside your cooked dishes.
