This almond baklava is a sweet and rich dessert, perfect for weekends or special days. It’s made with filo dough, almonds, raisins, and a lemony syrup. Easy to make and very delicious.

Ingredients:

  • Filo dough (for baklava)
  • 1 cup (250 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 1/3 cups (200 g) ground almonds
  • 1/2 cup (80 g) raisins
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups (300 g) sugar
  • 2 cups (500 ml) water
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter. Grease a baking pan and place 4 sheets of filo dough, brushing each with butter.
  2. Mix the ground almonds, raisins, and nutmeg.
  3. Keep layering the filo sheets, spreading some of the almond mixture between each layer, until the filling is used up.
  4. Top with the last 4 sheets of filo, brushing each with butter.
  5. Cut the unbaked baklava into diamond or square shapes.
  6. Pour remaining melted butter over the top.
  7. Bake at 390°F (200°C) until golden brown.
  8. While baking, make the syrup: boil water with sugar and vanilla sugar. Add lemon juice and cool it.
  9. When baklava is baked, pour the cooled syrup over it and let it soak for 2–3 hours before serving.
