This almond baklava is a sweet and rich dessert, perfect for weekends or special days. It’s made with filo dough, almonds, raisins, and a lemony syrup. Easy to make and very delicious.
Ingredients:
- Filo dough (for baklava)
- 1 cup (250 g) unsalted butter
- 1 1/3 cups (200 g) ground almonds
- 1/2 cup (80 g) raisins
- A pinch of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups (300 g) sugar
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions:
- Melt the butter. Grease a baking pan and place 4 sheets of filo dough, brushing each with butter.
- Mix the ground almonds, raisins, and nutmeg.
- Keep layering the filo sheets, spreading some of the almond mixture between each layer, until the filling is used up.
- Top with the last 4 sheets of filo, brushing each with butter.
- Cut the unbaked baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- Pour remaining melted butter over the top.
- Bake at 390°F (200°C) until golden brown.
- While baking, make the syrup: boil water with sugar and vanilla sugar. Add lemon juice and cool it.
- When baklava is baked, pour the cooled syrup over it and let it soak for 2–3 hours before serving.
