There’s something timeless about warm baked apples. They’re the kind of dessert that doesn’t try to impress—yet somehow comforts you instantly. Soft, fragrant, and naturally sweet, they taste like slow winter evenings and quiet moments when the world feels gentle.
No fancy techniques, no complicated ingredients. Just apples, cinnamon, and the warmth that fills the kitchen as they bake.
Ingredients
4–6 apples (any firm, sweet variety)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1–2 teaspoons sugar (or more to taste)
Optional: 2–3 tablespoons chopped walnuts or raisins
¼ cup water for the bottom of the baking dish
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Rinse the apples and use a small knife or corer to remove the center—leave the bottom intact so the filling stays inside.
- Arrange the apples in a baking dish.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar into each apple. Add a spoonful of walnuts or raisins if you like a richer, nuttier taste.
- Pour about ¼ cup of water into the dish to help the apples steam and stay tender.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, depending on how firm the apples are. They’re done when the skin softens and a fork glides in easily.
- Serve warm. For extra aroma, drizzle a little honey over the top right after baking.
You can enjoy them:
- as they are,
- with a spoonful of honey,
- a dollop of yogurt, or
- a small scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Sometimes the simplest desserts are the ones that stay with you the longest.
