Spiderweb Cake Recipe
Ingredients:

For the Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
For the Spiderweb Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
¼ cup cocoa powder
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Black food coloring (gel or liquid)
For the Decorations:

1-2 plastic spiders
Edible glitter (optional)
Chocolate chips or candy corn for extra flair
Instructions:

Bake the Cake:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
Carefully stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
Prepare the Frosting:

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed.
Add milk and vanilla extract, and beat until fluffy and smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk or powdered sugar if needed.
Divide the frosting into two bowls. Color one bowl black using food coloring, and leave the other bowl white.
Assemble the Cake:

Place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of white frosting on top.
Add the second cake layer and frost the top and sides with black frosting, creating a smooth finish.
Create the Spiderweb:

Using a piping bag fitted with a round tip, pipe concentric circles of white frosting on the top of the cake.
Use a toothpick or skewer to drag through the circles from the center outward, creating a spiderweb effect.
Decorate:

Finish by placing plastic spiders strategically on top and around the sides. Sprinkle with edible glitter for a spooky shimmer and add chocolate chips or candy corn for extra decoration if desired.
