Savory Bacon & Ham Pie
Ingredients: (Serves 10)
- 1 lb puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 10.5 oz dry-cured bacon (cubed)
- 5.3 oz cooked ham, finely chopped
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme or parsley (optional)
- 1 stick (4 oz) unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions:
- Roll out the puff pastry into a large round sheet. Place it in a round baking dish (about 10 inches in diameter), letting the pastry cover the bottom, sides, and slightly hang over the edges.
- Cube the bacon and boil it briefly in water (about 2–3 minutes) to remove excess salt. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs with sour cream. Stir in chopped ham, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
- Dot the pastry with butter cubes and scatter the drained bacon evenly over the bottom.
- Pour the egg mixture over everything.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 480°F (250°C) for about 40 minutes, or until golden and set.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes, then serve warm.
