Potato pie is a simple yet flavorful dish that’s perfect for any occasion. To make this savory treat, you’ll need just a few basic ingredients:
- 1.3 lbs (about 20 oz) pastry dough (phyllo sheets)
- 2.2 lbs potatoes
- 1 medium onion
- A small amount of garlic (1–2 cloves)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- A little water (about 1/4 cup)
- Oil, salt or seasoning mix pepper, and paprika
Preparation:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes. Mix them with finely chopped onion and garlic, and season to taste.
Simpler Version:
Place the seasoned potatoes onto the dough, roll it up, place it on a baking sheet, and bake at 400°F for about 35 minutes. Ten minutes before it’s done, mix sour cream and water, and pour it over the pie.
Longer Version:
Sauté the seasoned potatoes in a skillet for about 5–10 minutes. Then follow the same steps as above: roll them in the dough, place them on a baking sheet, and bake for 25–30 minutes.
