Potato Pie it’s an excellent choice for a family meal or a gathering with friends, as it’s both hearty and satisfying. Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g of flour
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • Lukewarm water
  • 500 g of potatoes
  • 70 g of butter
  • 100 to 200 ml of sour or sweet milk
  • 1 teaspoon of seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons of sour cream

Instructions:

  1. Make a well in the flour and add salt and oil. Mix with lukewarm water to form a dough that is not too soft. Knead well and let the dough rest on a floured surface for at least one hour (this helps the dough roll out more easily). Lightly oil the dough to prevent it from drying out.

  2. Sprinkle the work surface with flour, place the dough on it, and roll it out with a rolling pin. (If the dough is difficult to roll, let it rest for a few more minutes before continuing.) Transfer the rolled dough onto a clean cloth on the floor or table, oil it, and let it sit for a few minutes. Roll it out with floured hands until it reaches your desired thickness. (Make sure your fingertips do not touch the dough to avoid tearing it.)

  3. Peel and grate the potatoes, then mix them with 1 to 2 tablespoons of butter, pepper, salt, and  seasoning.

  4. Cut the rolled dough into 5 to 6 pieces. Place some of the potato mixture at the beginning of each piece (trim the edges of the dough if they are too thick). Roll each piece of dough using the cloth.

  5. Arrange the rolled pieces in a greased baking dish, drizzle with melted butter, and bake in the oven.

  6. Near the end of baking, remove the pie and pour warm milk and sour cream over it. Return it to the oven for a few more minutes to finish baking.
